
ABOUT
Carter Kirilenko is a Vancouver-based Canadian Film Director. With a focus on sharing stories of human resilience in the face of the climate crisis, his work brings audiences closer to the natural world through an authentic cinematic experience.
His documentary "In Your Palm" (2020), reveals the link between Indonesia's haze crisis and the uncontrolled expansion of the palm oil industry. The film screened at 8 festivals across North America and received multiple awards, including "Best International Film" at Oregon Documentary Film Festival. His film "Leuser: The Last Place on Earth" (2021) follows a team of rangers that are protecting one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet and received the People's Choice Award at VIMFF during its world premiere.
Carter was selected as the Ambassador for Culture Days 2021, where he curated an interactive public film screening of "Salmon Parks", a film exploring an indigenous-led plan to recover key watersheds and restore wild salmon. His work has been displayed at international venues such as COP26 and featured on the Waterbear Network and Climate Crisis Hub.
Carter graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor's in Environmental Studies, and has given guest lectures at the University of Waterloo and York University.
